I joined Match.com a decade ago! In those days online dating was so new my three flatmates and I joined together and we received hundreds of replies. My friend Clara was the first to have a beau visit her (from the US) he was gorgeous and my flatmate and I were green with envy. They married a little while later and she moved to America. My internet demands were a bit too much for most men but I wanted to be exact with what I was looking for - yes I wanted a doctor (I am one and I needed someone who understands my busy schedule); I needed someone who liked to travel (my hubby and I now own homes on three continents); and I wanted someone who was honest! There was this one guy who kept talking to me and didn't seem to mind my demands; he was a doctor and could understand when I disappeared for days. On my 40th birthday, he phoned for the first time. He arrived in Australia from the US for Easter and returned permanently the next year. We married in November 1998, and just celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. At first I was embarrassed to tell anyone how we'd met; people were scared of the net in those days. Eight years;, even I couldn’t have believed we'd last that long.
